๐ŸŽจ Making Things with AI ๐ŸŽจ

Read each idea together, then do the offline activity. No screens or AI chatbots needed โ€” just you and your child. Keep it playful.

1. How AI Paints with Words ๐ŸŽจ

Imagine asking a friend to draw a red cat. ๐Ÿฑ She listens carefully to your words. Then she picks up a crayon. AI picture-makers work a little like that!

Do it together (offline):

Sit side by side with paper and crayons. One person closes their eyes while the other writes three describing words on a slip of paper โ€” something like 'sparkly, round, green.' Now the first person draws a picture using only those three words as clues, without peeking at the paper until they're done. Switch roles and try again with new words! Afterward, talk about what was easy to imagine and what was tricky.

2. Story Buddies: Let's Make Tales Together! ๐Ÿ“–

Have you made up a story with a friend? ๐Ÿ˜Š You say one part. Your friend adds more. Together you build something wonderful!

Do it together (offline):

Sit facing each other (or in a small group). One person says the very first sentence of a brand-new made-up story โ€” any idea is wonderful! The next person adds exactly one sentence. Keep taking turns until you have 6 to 8 sentences. Then read the whole story out loud from the beginning. Ask together: does every part follow from what came before? Is anything mixed up or missing? Fix it together and give your story a title. Draw a picture of your favorite moment!

3. The Computer That Hums a Tune ๐ŸŽต

๐ŸŽถ Imagine a little music box. You wind it up and a tune plays! A computer helper called AI can do something like this.

Do it together (offline):

Take turns humming or tapping a short tune โ€” just four or five notes. Then the next person repeats it back and adds one new note at the end. Keep going around until you have built a little song together, with no screens needed at all!

4. You Are the Real Artist! ๐ŸŽจ

Have you ever used crayons to draw? ๐Ÿ–๏ธ The crayons don't decide what to draw. YOU do! AI is just like that.

Do it together (offline):

Take turns being the "Director" and the "Artist" using only paper and pencil โ€” no screens needed! The Director describes a picture out loud (for example, "a purple dragon sitting on a rainbow, eating cookies"). The Artist draws it. Then switch roles. Afterward, talk about whose idea it was, who did the drawing, and how you both helped make something brand new.
